of Wizardry in Wood 2012

Exhibitors at Wizardry in Wood 2012 included over twenty of the UK's most skilled and creative woodturners who showed the finest of contemporary work.

Over five days (16-20 October) the exhibition was attended by 2,000 visitors and members and guests of the Worshipful Company of Turners.

The Exhibition also featured important historical collections which showed how the craft of wood-turning has evolved during the 800 year history of the Turners' Company and earlier turners' guilds.

Particularly noteworthy was the display of turned artefacts from the Mary Rose Trust, the amazingly ornate nineteenth century demonstration pieces from the Holtzapffel Collection of the London Science Museum and samples of the artistic work by the late Theo Fabergé.

The exhibition featured the first ever public showing of the Royal thrones (with finials donated by the Turners' Company) from the barge used by HM The Queen during the Thames Pageant on 3 June 2012.

The Exhibition also included all the work entered into the prestigious turning competitions of the Turners' Company.

Wizardry in Wood is held every four years.

The first exhibition was held in 2004 to celebrate the four hundred years anniversary of King James I granting the Turners Company its first Royal Charter in 1604.

The fourth exhibition will be held in 2016.
