Exhibition Administration Note No. 1: 18 October 2007 Introduction The exhibition infrastructure will be assembled on Monday 2 June and this will consist of the finally agreed layout of the stands to display your products and the formal collections. We are hoping to have the Pinto Collection from Birmingham, The Daniel Collection, The Smooha Collection and also the St Petersburg/Faberge Collection on display. It is also hoped to have a 1627 Angels’ Lathe repro, from Belgium, as a centre- piece in the main hall. With the exception of the pole lathe demonstration stand, which will be in the entrance lobby, all other stands will be in the main hall of the Carpenters’ Company. Timetable Access to the hall for preparing individual stands will be from 11am on 3 June and to 11am on 4 June, with the formal VIP opening of the exhibition at 12noon on 4 June. The exhibition will then be open for viewing by ticket holders from 1pm on 4 June. The Turners’ Company will also be holding its biennial turning competition at the Carpenters’ Hall on 3 June, so this will give you an opportunity to participate in both events without the need for an additional journey. Stand size and services The basic layout for the stands will consist of a 6-foot table and a 4-foot table arranged in a short “T” and covered in felt. Subject to available funding, shelving will also be made available at the rear of the stand. There will be 6x3-foot screens separating each stand and these will carry the name of the stand or individual turner. Drawings of individual stands and a plan of the hall layout will be sent to you later this year. There will be multi point electric plugs from the main sockets around the hall for lighting only. You will be required to bring your own lights to connect into this system. You are also encouraged to bring any up-lifters and display plinths you may have to enhance the presentation of your stand and improve your marketing opportunities. These may extend beyond or around the basic table layout. Should you not wish to have the planned “T” layout or perhaps prefer and empty space, please let me know. Access to the Carpenters Hall The Carpenters Hall has a private road that runs along the side of the building and you will be able to free-park in this area for the purpose of unloading and loading your displays. However, a gatekeeper strictly controls entry for listed vehicle numbers, which you will be requested to confirm next year. Tickets to Wizardry in Wood Entry to the exhibition will be by ticket only and to maximise the attendance of the buying public we wish to focus our ticketing strategy on known buyers. We therefore ask that you forward a list of your clients to The Deputy Master, Penrose Halson at Penrose@halson.com so that we can ensure they receive an invitation. Contribution to the Turners’ Company Charity Fund There will be no charge for the stand but a contribution of 10% of your takings and commissions from this exhibition is sought for the Turners’ Company Charity Fund. |
